-Irvin Frederick Everett Jr.-

Irvin “Freddy” Fredrick Everett, Jr., 78, of Conesville, died Sunday, November 1, 2009, at his home in Conesville.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 5, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Grace United Church of Christ in Conesville.  Burial will be in the Conesville Cemetery with full military rites provided by the Allen Wright Hanft Post #100.  Casketbearers will be Sam Clark, Jeff Murphy, Darin Mapel, Tom Bell, Brad Bell and Jerry Murphy.  Honorary casket bearers will be Danny Boyd, Marv Kistler, Darrel Bell, Butch Bennett, Denny Bennett, Don Farley and Tom DeVore.  Visitation for Freddy will be held on Wednesday, November 4, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a 7:00 p.m. Masonic Service at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Grace United Church of Christ, Conesville Fire and Rescue, Columbus Junction American Legion or the Louisa County Shriners in memory of Freddy.  Online condolences may be left for the Everett family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Irvin Frederick Everett, Jr. was born on January 6, 1931 in Conesville, Iowa the son of Irvin and Callie (Buser) Everett.  Freddy was a 1948 graduate of Conesville High School of which he was a proud member of the basketball team that competed at the state level.  Freddy was united in marriage to Beverly Pine in 1949 and later divorced.  In 1955, Freddy was united in marriage to Norma Louise Munson.  Following Norma’s passing, his remaining time was spent with his loving companion, Linda Murphy for 25 years.  Freddy served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict serving in Germany.  He was a life long farmer and never met a stranger.  He enjoyed raising melons and taught many life lessons in the melon field.  He enjoyed hunting and could easily be talked into playing another hand of cards.  He always challenged his children to “use their heads”.  He was well known for his work ethic, generosity, and kindness towards others.  Freddy was the original owner and operator of the Thirsty Camel in Conesville, a member of the Columbus Junction American Legion Allen Wright Hanft Post #100, Davenport Shrine, Columbus City Masonic Lodge # 107, Ducks Unlimited, Conesville Yacht Club, charter member of the Cedar Valley Hunting Club, Muscatine Moose Lodge, Louisa County KAABA Shrine, past vice president of the L Bar M Rodeo Association in Conesville and Orono Township Clerk for many years.

Freddy will be deeply missed by Linda Murphy of Conesville; his children, Douglas Everett and his wife, Cindy of Spring Hill, Florida, David Everett and his wife, Marcia of Conesville, Duane Everett and his wife, Laura of Leesburg, Florida, Connie Clark and her husband, Danny of Columbus Junction, Kathy Everett-Erickson and her husband, Ed of New Boston, Illinois and Karen Warnstaff and her husband, Harlan of Conesville, Cindy Austin and her husband, Randy of Wilton, Jeff Murphy of Columbus Junction, and Brian Murphy and his wife, Dana of Lee Summit, Missouri; grandchildren, Amy, Shannon, Nicole, Tyson, Sam, Melissa, Jennifer, Lindsey, Stacey, Kristi, Kari,

Sara, Todd, Brittney, Ashley and Zak; great-grandchildren, Jensen, Matthew, Ann, Brock, Jeffery and Kinlee and one brother, Joe Everett and his wife, Lois of Winfield.

Freddy was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Norma Everett, one sister, Helen Gartske and two brothers, Edward Everett and Dale Everett.
