Iola Jane Blakley, age 84, of Ainsworth, Iowa died Friday, May 9, 2008 at the University of Iowa Hospital following a sudden illness.

Celebration of life services were held at 10:30 am Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at the Ainsworth Community Church with Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Visitation will began noon Monday at the Jones-Eden Funeral Home where the family received friends from 6:00 – 8:00 Monday evening. Interment took place at the Oregon Township Cemetery. Iola was born December 22, 1923 in Nichols, Iowa the daughter of Francis and Martha (Colwell) Bixby. She attended country school in Muscatine County. On April 10, 1943 she was united in marriage to Jack Blakley in Columbus, Kansas.

Iola was a homemaker and later worked as a cook in several area restaurants until her retirement. She lived most of her life in southeast Iowa. She was a member of the Ainsworth Community Church. She greatly enjoyed her family, crocheting, playing cards, listening to country music and visiting with family.

She is survived by her son, James F. Blakley and wife, Stella of Ainsworth, Iowa; daughter, Betty Bean and husband, Jerry of Ainsworth, Iowa; daughter, Theresa Sapp and husband, Jim of Beaverton, Alabama; son, Ronald Blakley and wife, Judy of Corbin, Kentucky; 19 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Iota Jensen of Ollie, Iowa; brother, John Leroy Bixby of Marshfield, Wisconsin; brother, George Bixby and wife, Darlene of Neilsville, Wisconsin; sister, Judy Bixby of Belle Plaine, Iowa; sister, Jane Wilcut and sister, Joan West of Hamburg, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack in 1987, son, Billy Wayne Blakley and his wife, Patricia; daughter, Diana Lynn Javier and her husband, Cipriano; two great-grandchildren, Andrew Larry Hultgren and Dallas Annen; brothers, Virgil, James and Francis Bixby; and sisters, Elsie Saultz, Irene Bixby and Francie Mae Bixby as well as her special friend, Allen Bailey.
