Vera L. Wiley, 95, of West Liberty, formerly of Columbus Junction, died Monday, January 30, 2012 at the Simpson Home of West Liberty.

Funeral services were Friday, February 3, 2012 at 1:30 pm at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction, Iowa.  Rev. Mario Padilla officiated.  Casketbearers were Vera’s grandsons.  Honorary Casket Bearers were Vera’s granddaughters.  Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery.  Visitation was held on Thursday, February 2nd from 4:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to the Conesville First Responders and the Columbus Senior Center in Vera’s name. Vera Louise Grouwinkel was born March 15, 1916 in Louisa County, Iowa, the daughter of William Henry and Rachel Ann (Deppey) Grouwinkel.  On March 22, 1939 Vera was united in marriage to Paul Monroe Wiley in Burlington, Iowa.  Vera worked all her life on their farm and raised her family in Louisa County.  She supported the Columbus Senior Center and attended the United Methodist Church.  Vera enjoyed being outside, working with livestock and raising flowers, especially loving her red roses.

Vera will be dearly missed by her sons, Lloyd Richard Wiley of Muscatine, David Earnest Wiley and wife, Linda of Clarence, Iowa, Farrel Gene Wiley and wife, Connie of Muscatine and Brad Paul Wiley and wife, Tami; eleven grandchildren, Shane, Adam, Bobby, Brian, Bill, Steve, James, Katie and Suzanne Wiley, Sarah Bezdek, and Suzette Blanchard; and five great-grandchildren, Lily, Kirsten, Logan, Alex and Jacob.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, George and Paul Grouwinkel; three sisters, Elizabeth McCulley, Berneice Newhard and Effie Crammond; and three half-sisters, Mabel Story, Maude Heindel Stone and Abbey Adamson.
