-Donna Marie Ball-

Donna Marie Ball, 77, of Nichols, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at the Colonial Manor Care Center in Columbus Junction of a sudden illness.  Services for Donna were Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction.  Jim Jenson and Dean Phelps officiated.  Casket bearers were Mark Ball, Tom Huggins, Butch Huggins, Tony Ball, Randy Smith, and Toby Tompkins.  Burial was in Letts Cemetery.  Following the committal services, a time of food and fellowship was held at the Letts Community Center.   Visitation was held on Friday, February 27th   from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services, Columbus Junction.   Memorials may be directed to Amenity Hospice of Cedar Rapids. Donna M. Black was born on February 9, 1932 in Letts, Iowa the daughter of Art J. and Marie A. (Holliday) Black.  On June 11, 1950,

Donna was united in marriage to Nelson Eugene Ball in Cranston, Iowa.  She worked at the Catfish Place and Rose Newton’s Ceramic Shop in Nichols until retiring in 1996.  She was a homemaker and a loving mother to her three children.   She always had a flower garden and loved tending to it.  She enjoyed spending time with her pets but most of all she loved being with her friends and family.

Donna will be dearly missed by her children, Catherine Hoyt of Muscatine, Darrel Ball of Nichols, and Kelly Huggins and her husband, Tom of Nichols; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one sister, Betty Lou Schroeder of Muscatine.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Nelson Ball in 1996, one grandson, Robert Kilburn, and one nephew, Gordon Schroeder, Jr.
