Donald Leo Ramer, 91, of Conesville, died Friday, May 4, 2007, at his home in Conesville.

Funeral services were Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at 10:00 A.M. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Rev. Cathy Whitlatch officiated. Casketbearers were Troy Strause, Tyson Strause, Shawn Phillips, William Wingerter, Jamey Thomas, Russell Lamp, Chris Skidmore and Aron Carlson. Honorary casketbearers were Amy Skidmore, Heather lamp, Christie Carlson and Julie Strause. Burial was in the Conesville Cemetery with full Military Rites by the Allen Wright Hanft American Legion Post #100. Following the committal service there was a time of food and fellowship at the Conesville United Methodist Church. Visitation was held Monday, May 7, from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Donald’s name. Donald Leo Ramer was born November 9, 1915, in Conesville, Iowa the son of Chester L. and Ruth M. (DeLap) Ramer. Donald served with the United States Army during WWII from 1943 to 1946 as a Corporal. On December 24, 1945, Donald was united in marriage to Hazel M. Hayes in Manhattan, Kansas. Donald was employed by G.P.C. for 26 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and gardening.

Donald will be deeply missed by his children, Howard Ramer of Winfield, Linda Strause and her husband, Gene of Jacksonville, Florida, Laura Sywassink and her husband, Tom, of Muscatine and Sherry Wingerter and her husband, David, of Muscatine; eight grandchildren and nine-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert Ramer of Iowa City, Chester Ramer, Jr. of Cedar Falls and Max Ramer of Conesville; two sisters, Jean Yedlik and Alice Hazen, both of Muscatine.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Hazel on May 14, 1989, and one daughter, Judy in infancy, one brother, Lyle Ramer and one sister, Frances Bennett.
