Doris M. McAtee, 80, of the Iowa Veterans Home, Marshalltown, Iowa formerly of Chariton, Iowa, died Monday, May 21, 2007 at the Marshalltown Medical Center in Marshalltown.

Funeral services for Doris were held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at the Grundy Center Methodist Church of Trenton, Missouri. Pastor Jerry Henderson officiated the services. Casketbearers were Donald E. McAtee, Kenneth E. McAtee, Jr., Ronnie L. McAtee and George M. McAtee. Honorary Casketbearers were Ryan A. Hunter, Aaron M. Hunter, Daniel J. McAtee, Dwayne L. McAtee, David L. McAtee, Mathew L. Hennon, Marcus R. Hemmon and Nathon L. McAtee. Burial was in the cemetery at Willis Chapel north of Brimson, Missouri. The Sordon-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services of Lone Tree, Iowa handled the arrangements for Doris and her family. A memorial has been established in Doris’ name. Doris M. Tamblin was born on August 26, 1926 in Clayton, New York, the daughter of Lewis Jerome and Ellen Eleanor (Fredinburg) Tamblin. On December 3, 1945, Doris was united in marriage to Kenneth Edward McAtee in Gilman City, Missouri. Doris enjoyed working with her hands, crocheting doilies, knitting, sewing, gardening, canning and preparing delicious home cooked meals. She was a homemaker and will always be remembered for her unconditional love for her family and caring for others.

Doris will be deeply missed by her husband, Kenneth Edward,Sr., of Marshalltown, IA; her sons, Donald E. McAtee (Chariton), IA), Kenneth E. McAtee, Jr. and late wife, Junette (Lisbon, IA), Ronnie L. McAtee and wife, Cindy (Texas), George M. McAtee and wife, Dawn (Arizona); her daughters, Connie L. Hunter and husband, David (Idaho), Phyllis E. Hennon and husband, Rodney (Florida) and Patricia A. McAtee (Lisbon, IA); 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers and 4 sisters; a son, David Edward; and a grandson, Kyle.
