-Kirk Massey-

Kirk Massey, age 25, of Wapello, died Friday evening, January 6, 2006, at the Great River Medical Center at West Burlington. The son of Jim and Connie Timmerman Massey, he was born May 4, 1980 at Iowa City.

He graduated from high school in 1998. He had worked as a Deputy Police for the City of Wapello and was currently a Dispatch Officer and Jailer at the Louisa County Sheriff Department. He enjoyed racing as number 4K earlier in four cylinders and recently in Hobby Stock.

He also enjoyed hunting primarily of duck and geese. His son, Evan, was his life and he loved him very much.

He is survived by his mother, Connie Massey and Kenny Fletcher of Wapello; his father, Jim and Geri Massey of Oakville; his maternal grandparents, Russell ‘Skip’ and Dorothy Timmerman of Wapello and Tom Fletcher of Wapello; his paternal grandparents, William ‘Jr.’ and Paul Massey of Burlington; his sisters, Stephanie and Brad Shutts of Grinnell and Morgan Massey of Oakville; several aunts and uncles, and cousins; and a lot of friends.

The funeral ceremony for him will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 11, 2006, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home at Wapello, with Pastor Dan Doolin officiating. Burial will follow at the Edwards Cemetery in Oakville.

A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of the Wapello Rescue Unit and the family needs.
