-Laurie Sue Rudisill-

Laurie Sue Rudisill, 60, of Wapello, passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City.  Celebration of Life services will be 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2012, at the United Methodist Church in Wapello.  Burial will be in the Wapello Cemetery.  Following the committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the United Methodist Church.  Visitation for Laurie will be held on Thursday, March 22, from1-3:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Wapello Nursing and Rehab Center or the Wapello Youth League in memory of Laurie.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.  The Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Service in Columbus Junction is caring for Laurie’s arrangements and her family.

Laurie Sue McCleeary was born October 21, 1951, in Rock Island, Illinois the daughter of Everett and Naomi (Wakeland) McCleeary.  Laurie was a 1969 graduate of Wapello High School and then attended Southeastern Community College in Burlington.  On May 21, 1977 Laurie was united in marriage to James A. Rudisill in Wapello.  Laurie was the activity director for the Wapello Nursing and Rehab Center.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wapello, Keck Players, Wapello Youth League, and Wapello Jaycettes, now known as Women of Today.  Laurie volunteered at the Wapello Community Christmas Dinner and with many other local organizations.  Laurie enjoyed collecting salt and pepper shakers, nativity scenes and visiting the casino.  Laurie was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and Chicago Bears fan, but most of all, Laurie loved to spend time with her family and friends, going to all of her children’s sporting events.

Laurie will be dearly missed by her husband, James of Wapello; her children, Kaylynn Rudisill of Muscatine, Adam Rudisill of Wapello, Eric Rudisill of Morning Sun and Jay Rudisill of Wapello; two grandchildren, Tucker Richardson and Lily Rudisill; sister, Linda Wilson and her husband, William of Mt. Pleasant and brother, John McCleeary of Centerville; numerous nieces and nephews; her special friends, Keith Trafton and family, Neil and Mary Ann Toland, and the rest of her extended family at the Wapello Nursing and Rehab Center.

Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Glenda Cook and Martha Wakeland and special friend, Sue Trafton.
