Charles “Chuck” Andrews, age 85, of Columbus Junction, Iowa died Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after a lengthy illness.

Graveside funeral services with military honors were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at the Columbus City Cemetery in Columbus Junction, Iowa with Pastor Steve Cauley officiating.  Visitation was held from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Columbus City Cemetery.  The family received friends at the Columbus Junction American Legion following the burial.  In lieu of flowers, a general memorial has been established.  Memorials may be addressed to the Jones-Eden Funeral Home.  Online condolences may be sent for Charles’s family through the web at www.jonesfh.com.

Charles Andrews was born July 23, 1926, in Lamont, Iowa the son of Loyd and Velma (Reed) Andrews.  Following graduation from Lamont High School, he served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II.  Charles was united in marriage to Therma Jeanne Coulter in 1946.  Charles later married Geraldine “Gerry” Myers on December 26, 1971 in Kirksville, Missouri.                                                                    . 

Chuck farmed for several years near Rowley, Iowa as well as working in bridge construction, operating heavy equipment.  Chuck retired in 1992 from the Heinz Company in Muscatine, Iowa.

Chuck was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Muscatine.  He was also a member of the American Legion.  He enjoyed woodworking, taking care of his yard, and loved raising and taking care of animals.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Gerry; ten children: Adam Andrews of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Jeanna Fagle and husband, Ken of Center Point, Iowa; Steve Andrews and wife, Janice of Vinton, Iowa; Wayne Andrews and wife, Peggy of Marion, Iowa; Abbie Andrews of Center Point, Iowa; Sheri Wiltsey and husband, Randy of Center Point, Iowa; Harold Andrews of Center Point, Iowa; Franklin Wilson and wife, Edna of Remsen, Iowa; Phyllis Kurz and husband, Glen of Muscatine, Iowa; and Dee Ortiz and husband, Julian of Conesville, Iowa; nineteen grandchildren; and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Kenneth and George Andrews; and sister-in-law, Joyce Andrews.
