-Mary Lucille Krotz-

Mary Lucille Krotz, 72, of rural Columbus Junction completed this part of life January 22, 2008, at her home following a long and courageous battle with diabetes.

Born March 10, 1935, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Hilton and Helen (Amlong) Coon, she was known to her family and friends as Mary Lou.  She married Wilbur William Krotz in April of 1954 in the home of her parents where she grew up, raised her family and lived until the time of her death.  She was a graduate of Ainsworth High School.

She is survived by her husband, Wilbur of Columbus Junction, Iowa; 4 daughters, Karen (Russell) Steinhauer of Houston, Texas; Karla Young of Johnston, Iowa; Karol Krotz of Ames, Iowa;  Kay (Joe) Russo of Des Moines, Iowa; and one son, Kevin Krotz of Burlington, Iowa; 9 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Carolyn Shafer of Greentop, MO, Linda Raper of Pryor, OK, Shirley Pace of Los Angeles, CA, and 1 brother, Jim Coon of Washington, Iowa.  She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Katherine Marie Krotz, and her parents.

Mary Lou found happiness in country living and farming with her husband.  She enjoyed fishing, gardening, home canning, sewing, mushroom hunting and cooking.  She experienced great joy in spending time with her grandchildren and looked forward to becoming a great-grandmother.

Celebration of life services were held at 10:30 am Saturday, January 26, 2008, at the Jones Eden Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Hughes officiating.  Interment took place at the Salem Church of God Cemetery in rural Ainsworth, Iowa.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association.  Online condolences may be sent for Mary’s family thru the web at www.jonesfh.com
