Carol A. Mace, 66, of Letts, Iowa, died Sunday, June 10, 2012 at the University of Columbia Hospital following injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident.

Memorial services were Friday, June 15, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at the Grandview Community Bible Church with Pastor Darryl Erickson officiating.  Following the service, there was a time of food and fellowship at the church.  Visitation was held on Thursday, June 14th from 2:00-7:00 P.M. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services.  A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Carol’s name. Cremation has been facilitated by the FCS Life Transition and Cremation Center of Muscatine Memorial Park.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com

Carol Ann Payne was born July 13, 1945 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Bernice (Thomann) Payne.  She graduated from Cardinal High School in 1964, and in 1965 she graduated from the Vera-Duane School of Hair Design in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  She was married to Gale Mace and later divorced.  She drove the Special Needs bus for the Louisa-Muscatine School District for 33 years.   Carol also worked at Grandview Corners, the Sombrero in Grandview and as an Avon Sales Agent.   She was a member of Amicus, and she enjoyed motorcycling on her Trike, crafting, going to yard sales and recycling cans.                  

Carol will be dearly missed by her daughters, Traci Van Hyning and husband, Dub of Ft. Madison and Jamie Boynton and husband, Michael of Muscatine; three grandchildren, Jocelyn and Rhys Boynton of Muscatine and Gus Van Hyning of Ft. Madison; two step-grandchildren, Anna and Philip Boynton of Ansbach, Germany; one brother, Michael Payne and wife, Letitia of Fredricksburg, Texas; three sisters, Janeen Morris and husband, Bryan of Sparks, Nevada, Jeanette Klicker and husband, Ronald of Verona, Illinois and JoEllen McDowell and husband, Scott of Eldon; special cousin, Sharon Carlson of Maple Grove, Minnesota; and special friends, the Vernons of Fruitland and the Thompsons of Grandview.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents.
