-Milos (Mick) Karagin-

Milos (Mick) Karagin, Jr. age 78 of Morning Sun died Wednesday June 9, 2010 at his home.  The son of Milos Sr., and Katherine Karagin, he was born May 25, 1932 in Gary, Indiana.  On August 21, 1954 he married Beverly Cornic in Morning Sun.

He graduated from Lew Wallace High School in Gary, Indiana in 1950, from the University of Dubuque in 1954, and earned a Masters Degree from Indiana University in 1962.  He served in the US Army from 1955-57, stationed at Ft. Bliss Texas, where he was a drummer in the 62nd Army Band.  He taught in Lost Nation, Iowa before entering the service.  After the service he returned to Indiana to teach at Calumet High School in Lake Ridge Schools of Calumet Township, Gary, Indiana.  He taught there for 33 years, retiring in 1990 and moving to Morning Sun.

He was a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers and the Morning Sun United Methodist Church.

Survivors include:  his wife, Bev of Morning Sun; two sons; Brad (Kathy) Karagin of Highland Village, Texas; Mike (Lynda) Karagin of Morning Sun; two step-grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Kerhin of Hobart, Indiana; one niece and two nephews;

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son Steven.

The funeral service was Saturday June 12, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Morning Sun United Methodist Church, with Rev. Scott Smith officiating; interment followed at the Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun.

Friends called on Friday from 2:00 p.m - 8:00 p.m. at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun, where the family met with friends from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Morning Sun United Methodist Church, the American Lung Association, or the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
