-Gerald F. Weber-

Gerald F. Weber from Solon, Iowa passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2011 at Mercy Hospital Hospice in Iowa City, Iowa.  He was born on December 6, 1922 in Dimock, South Dakota to Frank and Anna Weber.

Jerry served in the Eighth Army Air Force during World War II.  He graduated from Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska.  On May 1, 1950, Jerry was united in marriage to Rubyann Haynes in Hastings, NE.   Jerry was the long-time manager of Jerry’s Variety in Columbus Junction, Iowa until it closed in 1988.  He was a salesman for IKO and for United Notions/Moda Fabrics until 2006. 

Jerry is survived by his wife, Rubyann; his seven children, Steph (Mark) Axthelm, Michele (Harry) Preste, Joel (Cathy), Tim (Pam Isaacs), Duane (Dave Ryan), Annetta (Mark) Luevano, and Zanetta (Neil) Hoehle; thirteen grandchildren, Jamie (JoEllen), Jenny (Steve), Cai, Jon, Daniel, Andrew, Adam (Hope), Andy, Rachel, Alissa, Samantha, Terrence, and Paul; and five great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Sydney, Abbie, Alexa, and Ander.

Memorial contributions can be made to ConKerrCancer.org or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.  ConKerr Cancer donates cheerful, brightly colored pillowcases to hospitalized children.  Donate fabric, time, or money to honor Jerry and his years as a fabric salesman.

Mass of the Resurrection for Jerry was held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Columbus Junction.  Father Bernie Weir officiated the services.  Burial was in Columbus City Cemetery.  Following the committal services a time of food and fellowship was held at St. Joseph’s. Visitation for Jerry was held on Friday, January 20, 2012 from 4:00 P.M until 7:00 P.M. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction.  Online condolences may be left to the Weber family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.
