-Maxine M. Clevenger-

Maxine M. (Bliven) Clevenger, 83, of Columbus Junction, died Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Washington County Hospital. 

Funeral services were Sunday, August 14, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction.  Rev. Al Coffin officiated.   Casket bearers were Joshua Jones, Joseph Jones, Jeffrey Clevenger, Kirk Bliven, Ralph Darnell and Mark Van Auken.  Honorary casket bearers were Delbert “Birdie” Jay and Jacob Jones.  Following the services there was a time of food and fellowship at the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church.  Burial will be in the Columbus City Cemetery at a later date. Visitation was held on Saturday, August 13, 2011, at the funeral home from 4:00-7:00 p.m.  A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Maxine’s name.  Online condolences may be left to the Clevenger family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com

Maxine Mae Bliven was born on May 28, 1928 in Columbus Junction, Iowa, the daughter of Charles “Roy” and Cecilia P. (Hammond) Bliven.  Maxine was a lifelong resident of the Columbus Junction area and a member of the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed sewing, cooking, playing solitaire, caring for her yard, spending time with her family and friends and helping others.  More than anything, Maxine loved to spend time with her grandchildren.

Maxine will be dearly missed by her daughter, Theresa Alleman and husband, Michael of Liberty, MO; two sisters, Vera Mewhirter of Columbus Junction and Dorothy Kemp of Story City, Iowa; and five grandchildren.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Tracy; three sisters, Lillian Tompson, Jean Sims and Margaret Hawley; and one brother, Harold Bliven.
