-James Eden-

James Eden, 87, of Lone Tree, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.  A celebration of life will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2012, with a time of sharing at 7:00 p.m. at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree.  Burial will be held at a later date.  A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of James.  Online condolences for James’s family may be sent to www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

James Edwin Eden was born on September 26, 1924, the son of Elmer and Lois (Neff) Eden in Lone Tree, Iowa.  He was a 1942 graduate of Lone Tree High School.  James proudly served his country in the United States Army from April 1, 1946 – September 29, 1947, attaining the rank of Corporal.  On June 19, 1949, James was united in marriage to Shirley Mills at the First Christian Church in Iowa City.  James was a farmer in the Lone Tree area his entire life and enjoyed farming, coon hunting, raising and training his black and tan coon hounds, harness horse business raising standard breed race horses, and playing cards, but most of all James enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

James will be deeply missed by his wife, Shirley of Lone Tree; his children, Loren Eden and his wife, Linda of Lone Tree, Randell Eden and his wife, Kellie of Lone Tree, Becky Meyer and her husband, Ron of Solon, and Ed Eden of Lone Tree; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Wanda Ronan of Lone Tree, and several nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, John and Elmer Jr., and one sister Geraldine Lien.
