Jean Buser, 90, of Nichols, died on Friday, April 6, 2012, at her home.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home.  Reverend Don Hodson of the Nichols United Methodist Church will officiate the service. Burial will take place in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery.

Jean was born on January 14, 1922, in Columbus City, the daughter of Clement and Hazel McBride Allen.  She married Donald E. Buser on March 7, 1942, in Memphis, Missouri.  He preceded her in death.

She taught in a one-room country school for two years.

She was a member of the Nichols United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Royal Neighbors of America, and was active in Farm Bureau for many years.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and canning.  She loved flower gardening and arranging.  She also played piano, enjoyed sewing, embroidery, and cross-stitching.  She loved having children around her entire life.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Tom Buser and wife, Pat, of Cranston, Mike Buser and wife, Elizabeth, of Melboure, Florida, Scott Buser and wife, Lori, of Nichols, Kay Payne and husband, Larry, of Janesville, Wisconsin, and Donae Porter and husband, Richard, of Paxton, Illinois; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two brothers, Mitchell Allen and wife, Marian, and Kenton Allen and wife, Ghada; and two sisters, Marcia Steele and husband, Harold, and Barbara Lunning and husband, Howard.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one sister, Phyllis Steele.
